Here’s a true story…

When Jimmy hired me as his Affiliate Manager, he said “Nicole, I am hiring you because I want more time to play tennis and relax with my wife and son. At the same time, I want to take my business to even higher income levels.”

I’m thinking “Add some MORE zeros to his income — cool!”

As we were talking, I asked who I’d be working with, wondering who his staff members were that I’d interact with, never for a second imagining his response.

I found out that he was doing it ALL himself!

Now, I was then and am still a HUGE fan of Jimmy’s, so I certainly am not criticizing. Heck, he’s built an amazing business, and is incredibly focused and manages his time better than anyone that I know. I learn from him each and every day. He’s like Superman!

However, at the time I was thinking “He’s sooooo gonna LOVE working with me!”

I had a few tricks up my sleeve.

As a busy affiliate manager and internet marketer, I believe in automation and delegation. And, we were about to put much of his business on autopilot.

After a few weeks of working through Jimmy’s wish list, we chatted again.

Me: “What would you like me to start working on next?”

Jimmy: “You’re done?! How did you get so much stuff done in so little time?”

Me: “I had my girls do a lot of it”.

Jimmy: “Your girls?”

Me: “I have a team of moms who specialize in different things and I pay them to do a lot of the non-private stuff.”

You see, I have found that the fastest way that I can free up MY time is to delegate to others.

Heck, I refuse to be a slave to my business, too. So, it doesn’t make sense to take the chains from Jimmy and strap them to myself, now does it?

This is what freedom looks like —

Jimmy is on the road — a lot. Oftentimes, I email him and get this back “Here’s the info you asked for. By the way, we’re having fun in (insert city of the week — St. Louis, NYC, Destin, etc.). Ever been there?”

As for me, I took a four week holiday this summer to spend time with my family. And, no, I didn’t have a Blackberry strapped to my side. I didn’t even have internet or cell phone access in the cabin where I stayed. Did my business suffer? Nah. Did Jimmy’s? Nope. Not a bit. Business boomed.

I will add a promotion to my autoresponder for THAT list that includes the link to the “Free Traffic with Ezine Articles” report. And, yes, I will link directly to that report (not to the main page). I know my readers are looking for information on that topic, so I want to make sure they get sent to the page that contains exactly what they want. However, if you’re just sending a note about the launch, feel free to send traffic to the main page. You know your lists better than I do. (But, email me if you want advice.)
If you’re running adwords campaigns or doing focused article marketing to promote these products, certainly link to the individual sales pages as they should convert better by being more targeted.

I mentioned last week that we had some big announcements coming soon. Well, here is the first one.

One of the biggest frustrations in internet marketing is that you have to sell thousands of $10-$20 ebooks each year in order to make a full-time living online. The logistics can be pretty daunting.

There are a few ways to get over this hurdle.

1. Reach more people. (Get more customers.)
2. Write more ebooks. (Offer more low end products.)
3. Offer a higher-end product or service that your existing customers can pay more for. (Charge more for… something.)

Many people flinch at the third option. The thought of putting together a huge course or a big DVD package that they can sell for $100 or more sounds like a ton of work.

However, in Jimmy’s usual way, he’s found a way to help marketers earn more with their EXISTING business. That’s the part that I love about this. It doesn’t even entail setting up a new website. You can just add this to your current business and multiply your revenue immediately.

What is it?

Coaching. Personal one-on-one e-coaching.

And, it doesn’t matter a bit which niche you’re in. Dog Training, Baby Sleep, anywhere there is a problem — you can offer coaching. When my son was up at 1am night after night after night, I would have signed over my car to get him to sleep!

Jimmy’s been offering coaching for years. (Remember my email last week about the SixFigureFormula.com? That’s an example of this kind of mentoring.)

The good news is that the first time he offered personal email coaching, it sold out in a few hours.

The bad news is that, once it sold out, the problems began.

When the coaching began, he started to email back and forth with his clients. After a few days, he found that some of his coaching clients were not receiving email from him — and he wasn’t receiving email from them. So, while he’s thinking that he’s on top of all of his emails and has a bunch of happy customers… a few of them
weren’t so happy.

Of course, he jumped through hoops to make those people happy, but knew right away that he had a problem. And, as any smart marketer knows — where there’s a problem, there’s an opportunity. (Remember that one!)
